Love Notes for Her: What to Write and Where to Leave It

A love note for her works when it names one real moment and one real feeling. Skip the poem. Skip the grand declaration. Write three sentences: what you saw her do, what it did to you, and what you want her to know. That is a complete love note, and it lands harder than anything copied from a card rack.

Build the note from one specific moment

Generic praise reads as filler. Specific detail reads as attention. "You are amazing" could go to anyone. "You spent forty minutes helping my mother set up her phone and never let her see you were tired" could only go to her.

Pick a moment from the past week, not the past decade. Recent moments prove you are still watching. Old ones can work, but they read like a memorial, not a love note.

Write it in four steps

  1. Write the date at the top. It turns a scrap of paper into a record.
  2. Name the moment in one sentence, using one detail only you would notice.
  3. Say what it made you feel or think. Use plain words, not "eternal" or "soul."
  4. Close with one thing you want for her, not one thing you want from her.

Where to leave it so she finds it

One note per place. Five notes found at once is a scavenger hunt. One note found at 6:40 a.m. is a morning.

Openers that get you past the blank page

Use the opener once. Then stop writing and say the real thing.

What to leave out

Timing and frequency

Two notes a month beats one a day. Daily notes become wallpaper. Irregular notes stay surprising. Good times to write one: after she handles something stressful, before a hard day, or on a plain Tuesday for no reason at all.
